While clinical evidence for digital health interventions is growing (see our Digital Health Foundations series), there is still a LONG way to go. One company has bucked that trend from day one.
Meet Dr. Dave Albert, founder and Chief Medical Officer of AliveCor. I had the privilege of interviewing him for this week’s edition of the DataPoint podcast:
The launch of the iPhone in 2007 was the springboard for Dr. Albert’s curiosity to become a real medical device, and it has been an enormous priority for him to establish a base of clinical evidence quickly. To date, AliveCor’s tech has been featured in 85 peer-reviewed journal articles.
I was curious about the people who had been behind all of that research, so I thought it would be a good idea to take some of our HealthQuant tools for a spin. I pulled 75 of those publications that featured AliveCor technology, and mapped the associated co-author relationships. The live map is embedded below, but to see it in all of its full-screen glory, you can check it out here.
This map is much more fragmented than what we’d normally see, but that lack of a unified core of researchers is reflective of the fact that it is still early days for this product. Eventually some of the folks doing this research are very likely to start cross-referencing each other and joining together. Yet it’s also reflective of something even more important and encouraging: AliveCor has captured the interest of the world, and labs everywhere are eager to see how these tools can help them better care for the populations they serve.
This, of course, is one small part of the way that HealthQuant can identify the influencers that matter, and to understand the networks they inhabit and behaviors they drive — for more information, please check out our “Solutions” pages and give us a shout here!
